Hyundai India is planning to launch a series of new cars and facelifts of existing cars this year. The company will launch the much-awaited ix25 compact SUV and Elite i20 based crossover this year.Talking about facelifts, the Verna and Elantra are going to receive updates. The first car to be launched is the Verna facelift, which has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on Indian roads. It is expected to go on sale in the mid-February; however, the company hasn’t yet revealed the exact launch date. The new Verna gets changes to both exteriors and interiors;also there are mechanical changes made to the car.

The updated model gets new suspension mechanism to tackle rugged road conditions. Moreover, the steering wheel is likely to be shared with the Elite i20 to offer better controls on higher speeds. The current model is criticized for its poor handling and steering feel on high speeds.

The updated Verna has a new front fascia with newly designed grille complemented by restyled headlamps with projectors. The revised bumper has newly styled fog lamps with LED strips surrounding them. The rear-end features a revamped tail lamp cluster which now gets LEDs, while the bumper has new integrated reflectors. The side profile largely remains the same, except for the new design for alloy wheels. Inside, the Verna facelift is expected to get new touchscreen infotainment system, new upholstery and additional airbags.

It is likely to get updated steering and suspension to offer better driving experience. The engine specs remain the same - the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. A six-speed manual transmission might come as standard, while the automatic transmission could be the new six-speed gearbox instead of a 4-speed one.
