Hyundai is all set to launch the Tucson for the Indian market tomorrow. It will be the last launch for this year and the third SUV in its Indian portfolio.

The latest iteration of the Tucson will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants at launch. The former comes powered by a 2.0-litre MPI four-cylinder petrol engine churning out 152bhp of power and 192Nm of torque, while the latter employs a 2.0-litre CRDi four-cylinder diesel unit rated at 182bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Both these variants will come equipped with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is in its third-generation and built on the company's popular Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. Needless to say, it looks more contemporary and sportier than its predecessor. Its cabin gets leather upholstery, leather wrapping for the instrument panel and steering wheel. The feature list includes an eight-inch touch screen infotainment system, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, electric tail-gate and parking sensors among others.

Hyundai recently introduced the Elantra in the premium car category, and now with the new Tucson, plans to dominate this space. The Tucson will be offered in three grades- G, GL and GLS, the prices of which will be announced tomorrow. The car will be assembled locally at Hyundai's Chennai plant that should help them price it in an aggressive price bracket of Rs 17-22 lakh. It will then be slotted between the Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Creta, targeting customers looking for a premium mid-size SUV.
