Hyundai has unveiled a new N Performance tuned version of the Tucson, called the Tucson Sport. It features a slew of visual upgrades along with a more powerful version of the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The Tucson Sport is produced in a limited run of just 500 units. It follows the footsteps of the Elantra Sport with a retuned version of the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine under the hood. Its power figure has been bumped up from 175bhp to 201bhp, while the torque has received a 30Nm boost up to 295Nm. Visually, a body kit with side skirts and a rear diffuser sets it apart from the standard Tucson. It rides on 19-inch wheels with a new alloy wheel design, up from the standard car’s 17-inch wheels. It now breathes out through a quad pipe exhaust system.

In India, the Tucson range begins at Rs 19 lakh for the base petrol variant going all the way up to Rs 25 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the automatic diesel trim. We do not expect Hyundai to launch the Tucson Sport any time soon. While it might be a good idea to launch a body kit for the Tucson, the performance boost might not find many takers.
