Hyundai Motors India Limited, the country’s second largest car maker will be showcasing its concept sports utility vehicle (SUV), at the upcoming International Auto Expo in the National Capital in January 2012. The concept Hyundai SUV will be launched in the Indian market in coming years, and it will be a part of company’s expansion plans in the Indian market in coming years. It is to be mentioned here that Hyundai’s arch rival Maruti is also showcasing its concept SUV at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2012.
The new Hyundai Sports utility vehicle will be launched in the less than 4 meter segment, so that it can qualify for the lesser excise duty segment. At present, the excise duty on vehicles with less than 1.2 liter petrol engine or less than 1.5 liter diesel engine is applicable for the excise duty reduction of 8 percent.
A number of country’s leading car makers are now mulling over to capitalize on the increasing demand in the SUV segment in the Indian market. In the coming months, the less than 4 meter SUV segment will be witnessing the entry of a range of vehicle including Mahindra’s upcoming Mini Xylo, Maruti’s upcoming SUV and the prospective Hyundai SUV.
