Hyundai aims at taking the car ownership experience to a whole new level by introducing Google Assistant in its connected Blue Link cars. The Google technology will enable customers to access various functions like turning-on the engine, setting cabin temperature, lock/unlock the vehicle and much more over just a voice command.
The Google Assistant powers the Google Home, a voice activated speaker, which provides real-time answers, activates music services and more. Until now, Google Home has been successfully used on smart home devices, and this time on cars, will be used to send destination on car’s navigation system, start/stop charging of plug-in vehicles and remote horn/lights.
Currently in the test phase the automaker will be speaking in detail about the technology at the ongoing CES. The Google Assistant on Google Home has to be linked to customer’s Blue Link account to use the Google Assistant voice activated services. Once linked, the Hyundai vehicles will receive remote service commands only after Google Assistant prompts owners for their Blue Link Personal Identification Number (PIN).
