According to the latest official statement from Hyundai Motors India Limited, the company has achieved 20 lakh sales figure in India in 12 years of its operations in the Indian market. ''We believe this was possible because of our total commitment to the Indian market and the faith our customers have put in our products,'' said HW Park, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motors India Limited.
The 1st Hyundai Santro was launched in September 1998 in the Indian auto market. Later, Hyundai Motors India Limited has set various benchmarks at different stages of its career in the domestic market. It became fully operational as a manufacturing unit within 17 months and moved to the second spot on the manufacturer’s top list within 6 months of its operations in the country.
"Today is a red-letter day for all of us in Hyundai. We are extremely delighted to share this achievement with all our stakeholders and we believe this was possible because of our total commitment to the Indian market and the faith our customers have put in our products," said Park on the occasion.
Hyundai has its manufacturing unit at Sriperumbudur near Chennai. It is the second largest car manufacturer in India and is the largest exporter of small cars from the country.
