A picture of Hyundai’s engine plant welcoming a new four-cylinder has surfaced online.

Hyundai is developing an all-new hatchback that will be positioned below their highest seller, the Grand i10. A test mule of the said hatch was spotted testing recently. The newly-developed engine is expected to make its debut in the new hatchback. The new hatchback will be a spiritual successor to the highly successful i10 in Hyundai’s line-up. Reviving the iconic moniker, the new hatchback is speculated to be called the Santro. According to reports, the Hyundai’s new car is internally codenamed as AH2. As can be seen in the leaked image, there are two cylinder heads placed on the tray which has a note that says "Hearty Welcome AH2". No further details regarding the displacement, fuel or power output are available as yet.

There are reports that the engine has been in production for six weeks now. There is no official word from the Korean manufacturer regarding the new hatchback or the new engine. But if the rumours turn out to be true, the new hatchback will slot in between the Grand i10 and the Eon. It will employ the newly-developed motor instead of borrowing the powertrain from the Eon, as speculated earlier. We can expect Hyundai to reveal the new hatchback at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.
