2013 was a tough year for the Indian auto sector; however Hyundai was able to better tough times with some exciting products like Grand i10. In 2014 too, the auto company is looking keen to chip in new products to lure domestic buyers. From this perspective, Auto Expo 2014 is going to be a very important platform for Hyundai India. As one can expect, the South Korean auto maker is likely to introduce several new products like Eon Facelift, Grand i10 sedan, Elantra Facelift and new Santa Fe. This is certainly an impressive list to follow as it suggests that the company has some aggressive plans for 2014.
One of the most anticipated vehicles in this Auto Expo is Grand i10 Sedan. Like mentioned before, Grand i10 hatchback got a good response in the Indian market. expressing his views on the same, Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Limited, reportedly said, “We appreciate and thank our customers for showing strong confidence in brand Hyundai and making Grand a huge success in India. Grand has created a benchmark in quality, features and technology offering higher value proposition in such a short span of time. We are committed and continuously working on the operational efficiencies to cater to the demand to reduce the waiting period.” Clearly, the success of Grand i10 might have motivated the auto company to unveil a sedan based on the same, at the upcoming mega event.
The upcoming Grand i10 Sedan is likely to be powered by either 1.2-litre kappa dual VTVT petrol or a 1.1-litre U2 technology diesel engines. Sources close to the development process have revealed that the auto maker is expected to incorporate a number of features in this sedan, such as revised front and rear bumpers, provision of LED lights and touchscreen entertainment unit with Bluetooth connectivity. Also, the company may give out a fluidic design to this sedan for an appealing look. According to industry experts, Grand i10 Sedan may be launched within a couple of months after being unveiled at the Auto Expo.
Car aficionados can also expect the company to introduce new Santa Fe at the mega event. This full-fledged seven-seater utility vehicle is likely to compete with Toyota Fortuner. With a price range of around Rs. 22 lakh, the car will come equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine churning out a maximum power of 193 bhp. Also, the vehicle may be introduced with both, manual and automatic transmission systems.
Hyundai Eon facelift is yet another vehicle that may be introduced at the upcoming show. The price of this hatchback is likely to fall between Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 4 lakh. After unveiling, the company is expected to launch this facelift version in the last quarter of 2014. One can expect this compact passenger car to get an updated fluidic styling and enhanced features. The reworked version of Elantra may also be unveiled at the upcoming motor show. The price is expected to range from Rs. 13 lakh to Rs. 16 lakh. This vehicle is likely to get some mild cosmetic changes, along with some additional features.
