South Korean automaker, Hyundai has showcased the production version of the ix25 compact SUV at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. The compact SUV will also make its way to the Indian market, and launch is expected to take place by the mid-2015.

The ix25 compact SUV features Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, which is also offered on the Genesis sedan and the i20 hatchback. It features the hexagonal front grille that is complemented by i20-like headlamps with integrated daytime running lamps. The aggressive front bumper features trapezoidal, black coloured air dams and fog lamps.

The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV is not a sub-4 metre SUV, as it measures 4270mm in length, 1780mm in width and 1630mm in height. The Chinese-spec model is offered in two petrol engine options. While the base-spec models get the 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of producing 122bhp and 150Nm of peak torque, the powerful model has the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that develops 168bhp and 192Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to either front wheels or 4-wheels via a six-speed manual and an automatic transmission unit.

The Indian-spec model is likely to be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options, which will be shared with either Elite i20 or Verna sedan. The petrol engine could be the 1.2-litre or 1.4-litre unit, while the oil burners are likely to be 1.4-litre or 1.6-litre units. A five-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed manual will be offered.
