Hyundai is an automotive company based in Seoul, South Korea. Hatchback cars like Santro, i10 and the i20 has helped Hyundai eat into the shares of fellow competitors in the Indian automobile market.
The original ‘i20’ was launched in 2008. It continues to be a part of the Indian roads till this day. The ‘i20’ has a front engine with a front wheel drive layout. The car is available with a petrol engine or a diesel engine. The petrol engine, ‘1.2L Kappa 14’ provides 79 HP at 5200 RPM. The diesel engine ‘CRDi diesel engine’, on the other hand provides 89 HP at 4000 RPM. The ‘i20’ has been awarded five stars by Euro NCAP making it an extremely safe car for the user. Hyundai ‘i20’ boasts 6-airbags, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic brake distribution (EBD). This helps is controlling the vehicle on slippery surfaces. The car is able to accommodate up to five adults. The spacious boot is capable of hauling luggage belonging to the five adults!
As the demand for ‘i20’ increased, Hyundai came up with a new, enhanced version of ‘i20’. Hyundai unveiled the ‘i20 Elite’ during the month of August 2014. The ‘i20 Elite’ comes with all the features on the original ‘i20’. The new features incorporated are Bluetooth and USB support, rear AC vents, engine start and stop button, reverse parking camera and many more. The engines have been upgraded for both, the petrol and the diesel versions. The petrol model is now powered by ‘1.2L Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine’ which is capable of producing 83 BHP of power while the diesel model is powered by ‘1.4L U2CRDiDiesel Engine’ which is capable of producing 90 BHP of power.
‘Hyundai’ has adapted itself to the Indian mindset and hence we can confidently say this is not the end of the evolution tree of the ‘Hyundai i20’.
