Hyundai, the South Korean automaker is readying the Verna facelift, which is scheduled to go on sale in the country in mid February. It would be a mid-life facelift of the car. Other than the updated Verna, the company is also aiming at the launch of Elantra facelift. But, all eyes will be on the two upcoming all-new products from Hyundai- the Elite i20 Crossover and ix25 compact SUV.

It was speculated that the i20 based crossover will go on sale in the first quarter of 2015; however, new reports suggest that the crossover will be launched in April. The crossover is basically a beefed up version of the Elite i20 and is equipped with some additional equipment to add some sportiness. The vehicle would get new bumper, grille, plastic body cladding, roof rails and skid guards. Adding to it, the crossover will also get bigger alloy wheels to tackle pot holes and rugged roads better than the hatchback sibling. Sharing the underpinnings with the i20, the crossover will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise- a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol and 1.2-litre U2 CRDi unit.

Talking about the compact SUV - the ix25, it will measure more than 4 metres in length and will directly rival against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra Scorpio. The compact SUV will see heavy localization and component sharing to keep its costs down. It will share its engine specs with Verna sedan. Expect a 1.4-litre petrol and 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engines paired to either six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
