Hyundai India is gearing up for the launch of much-awaited i20 Active aka Elite i20 crossover. A couple of days back, the company had revealed the official sketches of the crossover. According to our sources, the crossover will be launched in the second half of March, 2015. Set to rival against the likes of Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Cross Polo, the i20 Active will be the fourth Hyundai car to make its global debut in India.

Hyundai i20 Active has been designed at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre Europe in Russelsheim, Germany. The crossover is based on a 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language', which we have already seen on the new i20, Grand i10 and Santa Fe. Compared to the i20 hatchback, the crossover gets sportier exterior styling. It features a new skid plate, projector headlamps with daytime running lights and large fog lamps. At the rear, the crossover has a newly styled rear bumper with circular reflector elements and silver skid plate. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to new 17-inch alloy wheels, while the ground clearance has been slightly increased. Other changes come in the form of extra body cladding, roof rails and spoiler.

The Hyundai i20 Active will get the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engines. While the petrol engine is capable of producing 83PS and 115Nm of torque, the oil burner churns out a maximum power output of 90PS and a peak torque of 220Nm.
