The much-awaited Hyundai i20 Active crossover has been finally launched in the Indian car market today. Available in 5 variants, the crossover is priced in the range of Rs. 6.38 lakh to Rs. 8.89 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The i20 Active will rival against the likes of Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo.
Based on the Elite i20 hatchback, the Hyundai i20 Active is equipped with new headlight clusters with LED daytime running lights, projector headlights with cornering lights, new grille, bumper, and circular fog light enclosures with a skid guard. The wheel arches have been fitted to new 16-inch alloy wheels. Also on offer are extra body cladding and roof rails, new fuel cap and gloss finish for the C-Pillars. At the rear, the crossover gets new bumper with circular reflectors, a skid plate and an 'Active' badge. The ground clearance has been increased by 20mm to 190mm. Dimensionally, the i20 Active is 3.995mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,555mm tall (with roof rails).
Inside the cabin, the vehicle largely resembles the hatchback sibling; however, there are minimal changes made to it. It is equipped with aluminium pedals, dual tone black and blue interior with blue inserts for the door trims and blue seats. The car also gets an all-black dashboard, while the gear knob, AC vents, music system and seats sport orange inserts.
The Hyundai i20 Active is available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol version is a 1.2-litre unit that produces 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque, the oil burner is a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi motor that is good for 90PS of power and 220Nm of torque. The engine options include five-speed manual for petrol and six-speed manual for diesel. The diesel variant delivers 21.19kmpl of mileage, while the petrol variant returns 17.19kmpl.
