Indian Car of the Year award this year was bagged by the Hyundai i10. The Korean passenger car maker in India was smiling all the way. The car was developed and launched in India itself and has now won the prestigious ICOTY award.
Hyundai Motors' CEO & MD Hueng Soo Lheem (India) says, “'Though the i10 is a car for the global market, we spent two-years developing it in India and it meets all the requirements of Indian market from a powerful A/c to good transmission and competitive pricing.”
He further added, “It's the first time a single model was unanimously named the year's best here. We expect this will help boost its Europe and Asia sales as well.''
The judges judged various cars on the various criteria like fuel efficiency, safety, design, comfort, handling, maneuvering, technical innovations, pricing, etc. It had a tough competition from Chevrolet Spark, Renault Logan, Maruti Suzuki SX4. Finally the award was awarded by JK Tyres to Hyundai i10.
