Nepal may soon see a wide variety of cars hitting the country, just like India, which is one of the fastest growing car markets in the world. Tata Motors has already rolled out its Nano and Indica Vista hatchbacks in the country and it seems that Ford and Hyundai are following suit.

Hyundai India is gearing up to introduce Eon, its latest small car, in Nepal, though no date has been confirmed as of now. However, it is expected that the company will be rolling out its newest entry level hatchback in the country before March 2012. Laxmi Intercontinental Private Limited, the authorised Hyundai dealer in Nepal, will be distributing the car in the country. Reportedly, 4 variants of the model will hit the local market, namely D-Lite, Era Plus, Sportz and D-Lite Plus. Hyundai is pitting this hatchback against the likes of Chevrolet QQ3, Perodua Viva and Maruti Suzuki Alto.

Ford, the American manufacturer, is also looking to tap into the potential of the car market in Nepal through EcoSport, its latest Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The car was showcased by the company for the first time at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012. GO Automobiles is the official distributor of the manufacturer in Nepal. The SUV has been assimilated with a 1.6 L petrol engine that is mated with a 5 speed manual transmission system. At the time of its launch, the powerful vehicle is expected to be priced close to 4 million Nepal Rupees.
