      Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre Vs Datsun Redigo 1.0-litre: Spec comparison

      Competition has always been tough in the entry-level car segment, especially after manufacturers upgraded their products with 800cc to 1,000cc. Hyundai Eon first introduced a 1.0-litre Kappa engine option way back in first half of 2014 and will soon find its newest competitor, the Redigo 1.0-litre being launched in India. Read on to find out what features have these cars have got to offer.

      The Datsun Redigo 1.0-litre will be available in T (O) and S trim levels while its competitor, Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre is available in Era+, Magna and Magna (O) variants. In terms of power output figures, the Eon produces 68bhp of power and 94Nm of torque. The upcoming Redigo produces 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. Both the vehicles come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. On the power aspect, both the cars perform more or less in the same manner.

      Speaking about the interior and features, theRedigo shares most of the components from its smaller engine sibling. The top-spec Redigo 1.0-litre gets black interior, fabric seats, front power windows, body coloured bumpers and a 2-DIN music system. The S trim additionally offers LED DRLs and a driver side airbag. In terms of features, the Redigo emerges a winner among the two. The top spec Eon, on the other hand, getstwo-tone seats anda 2-DIN music system with AUX, USB and iPod compatibility. The vehicle gets a black and beige dashboard with a cubbyhole above the glovebox.Apart from most of the featuresfrom the top spec 800cc sibling, the bigger Eon also gets fog lamps on the front and body coloured bumpers.

      Datsun will soon be launching the Redigo 1.0-litre in India. Ahead of its official launch, we believe that the upcoming model will likely cost an additional Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000 over the 800cc variant which currently starts at Rs 3.25 lakh.The Eon 1.0-litre on the other hand is priced between Rs 4.2 lakh – Rs 4.53 lakh. Although the Eon has been around for a while now and the Redigo has offered more interesting features, the pricing aspect will be a key factor that will decide its success in India.
