Hyundai Motors has always held a strong position in the Indian market. The recently launched Hyundai Elite i20 has reportedly received an impressive over 15,300 units in just about 20 days since launch. The diesel variant of Hyundai Elite i20 has been launched at about Rs. 6.09 lakhs, whereas the petrol trim has been launched at Rs. 4.89 lakhs. Both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi based. Recently, sketches of a three door coupe version had also surfaced, thereby hinting on a possibility of a coupe in progress.
Currently, owing to huge demand the hatchback has been on a long waiting list. Hyundai has been reportedly working on bringing down the waiting list numbers and are chalking out a plan that shall enhance production of the vehicles and avoid long waiting period. The petrol and diesel engines in the new Hyundai i20 have received the five-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant is powered by the 1.2 litre engine claimed to return an impressive fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl The diesel version is powered by a 1.4 litre, U2 CRDi diesel mill with displacement of 1,396 cc capable of developing a top power of 90 PS and peak torque of 22.4 kgm. Moreover, the diesel power-train claims to return an impressive fuel economy of 22.54 kmpl. As a class apart safety feature, Hyundai has included a new safety pedal in the hatchback that brings the car to a halt when the driver accidentally steps on the brake and accelerator pedal simultaneously.
The Hyundai Elite i20 launch during the festive season is also one of the reasons for its grand success in the Indian market. Apart from general safety parameters, Hyundai’s Elite i20 has been ranked better overall in its segment. Going by recent sketches of i20 Coupe, it is believed that the company may showcased the stylish coupe at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. It is believed that the coupe may be developed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe located in Russelsheim in Germany and more details about the vehicle may be known during its official unveiling.
