      Hyundai discontinues current i20, removes it from site

      A few days ahead of Hyundai i20 Elite launch, it has been learnt that the production of current generation i20 has been stopped a while ago since the company does not wish to sell current model alongside new Elite variant. Hyundai India has also removed the car from its official website which reinforces the speculation. Sources have also informed that dealers are currently clearing the final stock. The new generation i20 will be revealed globally on August 11th, India is the first country to get new i20 Elite. The new i20 Elite has received a number of cosmetic and styling changes, additions have also been made on feature front and a few equipments have been removed too. Upping the premium and styling quotient, i20 Elite is expected to surpass its outgoing version in terms of size, performance, looks and efficiency.

      Modified dimensions of the hatchback are as follows- it is 10 mm shorter at 3985 mm, width on the other hand has been increased by 24 mm ensuring a roomier cabin, wheelbase again has been enhanced by 45mm, ground clearance now stands at 169mm, 4mm more than the previous model and the overall height is 1505mm. The basic Era trim will not be included in the new i20 Elite range and at the time of launch only two engine options will be made available- a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.4 litre diesel powertrain. Automatic variant is also not likely to be offered initially. Two new features-in-built service indicator and steering position indicator will be infused inside the cabin. Top end version is also expected to get a new music system with an in-built storage capacity of 1 GM. Bluetooth system will also be equipped in the hatchback. Base trims will get the 14 inch alloy wheels, while high end version will come with 16 inch alloy wheels. The new i20 Elite is likely to be priced between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh.
