      Hyundai Creta production to increase to 9,000 units per month from December

      Hyundai India will increase the production of the recently-launch Creta and the Elite i20 from December, 2015, reveals Bo Shin Seo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMIL. The company, currently, produces around 7,000 units of both the models on monthly basis at its Chennai facility. With unprecedented demand of the compact SUV and hatchback, the Korean carmaker is planning to increase it up to 9,000 – 10,000 units per month. This will help the company reduce their extending waiting periods. Since its launch on 21st July 2015, the Hyundai Creta has received over 54,000 bookings.       The Hyundai Creta that rivals the Renault Duster and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, is priced within the range of Rs. 8.59 lakh – Rs. 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The compact SUV is being offered with three engine options – a 1.6-litre dual VTVT petrol, a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel. The 1.6-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power of 121bhp and 151Nm of torque. 

      While the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel units deliver 89bhp with 220Nm and 126bhp with 259Nm respectively. A six-speed manual transmission comes as standard, while a six-speed automatic gearbox is offered only on the 1.6-litre diesel models.  The petrol version is claimed to return a mileage of 15.29km/l, while the 1.4-litre diesel mill delivers 21.38km/l. The 1.6-litre diesel manual version offers 19.67km/l, and automatic variant offers 17.01km/l.
