An automatic petrol variant of the Hyundai Creta has gone live on its official website but there is no price listed. We spoke to a couple of dealers and they had not received any official confirmation for the same from the manufacturer.
The petrol AT option is being offered only in the SX+ variant and is a six-speed unit similar to the one found on the Elantra sedan. When Hyundai had launched the Creta in August 2015, it was only offering the six-speed AT option with the diesel engine.

The South Korean automaker already has the Verna in a similar guise with the same engine but mated to a four-speed AT. However, the car is now behind its rivals in terms of age and has not been faring too well in terms of volumes.
Now with the tide turning in favour of petrol vehicles it looks like Hyundai wants to ride volumes wave all the way to the bank. The arrival of this car is also no doubt being backed by a growing interest in SUVs. With the Creta averaging between 5000-7000 units every month, this seems to be the logical step forward.
This petrol Creta AT will take the fight to the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz whose equivalent AT variants are the VX CVT and ZXi+ AT which are priced at Rs 11.96 lakh and Rs 10.08 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). However, in the case of the latter, this is not the top-spec variant. We expect that Hyundai will price the Creta petrol at Rs one lakh more than the equivalent SX+ manual variant and launch it by next month.
