Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has officially declared that its name has been changed to Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL). The news from the company's stable has arrived following the disinvestment made by its official partner, Usha International Limited (UIL) from the Joint Venture (JV) company. With the issue of a fresh Certificate of Incorporation from the office of Registrar of Companies, NCT of Delhi and Haryana, the change in company's name has come into effect from September 10, 2012.

Expressing his views on this, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Cars India Limited, Hironori Kanayama, commented, “We are committed to the Indian market and will continue to delight our customers with latest products from Honda, which will enrich their lives and enhance their lifestyles. Honda’s quality, superior technology and overall ownership experience is what has endeared this brand to our customers since inception and same philosophy will drive us in future.”

With this new development, HCIL now happens to be the completely owned Indian subsidiary of Honda Motor Company. Its Indian product portfolio comprises Honda Brio, Jazz, City, CR-V, Civic and Accord that are all manufactured at the company's Greater Noida unit, except the CR-V, which is brought as Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Japan. In India, the company has maintained a strong sales and dealership network with 137 units, spread across 85 cities of the country.
