It was recently clear that the Honda WR-V crossover was headed to India thanks to the spyshots taken at the carmaker's plant. The recent snaps have been taken at a dealer stockyard suggesting that the vehicle will likely to make its India debut in March this year.
From the car's appearance, it is clear that it is based on the Jazz platform. The cosmetic changes, in terms of body cladding and other equipment, have been done by taking design cues from the BR-V. And just like the BR-V, which is the beefier version of the Mobilio, the WR-V will be crossover version of the Jazz hatchback.
Possibly, the Honda WR-V will carry the same engine options as the Jazz. So we can expect a 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol mill with a five-speed manual transmission and an i-DTEC diesel unit with a six-speed manual. The power output and torque figures of the two engines are 87bhp/110Nm and 98bhp/200Nm.
The Honda WR-V is expected to be launched next month at around Rs 6.5 lakh. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.
