Japanese carmaker Honda has proven its technological capabilities in the automotive sector across the globe. To make best utilization of natural resources, Honda has completed construction of its wind power plant in Brazil and has also reportedly started its operation. With this Honda becomes the first automaker in Brazil to operate such a facility, which is indeed the fourth largest vehicle market for global automakers.
The wind plants located about hundred of miles away in southern part of Xangri-la has nine 3 MW turbines that shall powered the company's assembly plants located in Sumare, Sao Paulo. It is believed that the plant is capable of generating all the electricity needed to cope up with Honda's annual production needs. This would indeed help in bringing down production plant's CO2 numbers considerably. The plant has been set-up at an enormous cost of about 100 million Reais and is stated to be cable of producing about 95,000 megawatt-hours of electricity a year.
At the inauguration event, Issao Mizoguchi, President of Honda’s Brazil unit, was quoted at an event as saying that the company indeed made efforts to develop technology that can indeed reduce carbon dioxide emissions stemming from production activities and that the wind power plant also signifies the accomplishment of Honda’s dream.
