Honda, the Japanese two-wheeler maker, is aiming to further strengthen its position in the growing scooter segment. The company is planning to launch at least two all-new scooters - the PCX 150cc and the Lead 125cc - in India this year. Honda has imported the PCX 150cc and Lead 125cc scooters in India for testing purposes. The PCX was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, though with a smaller 125cc engine. Upon its launch it will get a 153cc engine and will take on the soon-to-be-launched Hero Zir 150cc scooter.

The Honda PCX 150 scooter looks bulky compared to other scooters in the country. It weighs just 130kg, which is around 10-20kg more than the 110cc scooters available in the market. The scooter is powered by a 153cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, liquid cooled, PGM-FI petrol engine that churns out 13.4bhp of power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm at 5,000rpm. Power is transferred to wheels via a V-Matic automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the Lead 125 is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of producing 11.33bhp of power. It is equipped with Honda's 'Smart Power' technology that helps in reducing friction and improving fuel efficiency. Adding to it, the scooter also has idling start-stop system to increase the fuel efficiency.

The Honda PCX 150 features wide headlamps, wind deflector, conventional handlebar and long contoured seats. Other features include analogue instrument cluster with small digital display, alloy wheels, pillion grab, etc. On the other hand, the Lead 125 has a thick V-shaped chrome strip with integrated indicators. The under-seat storage is 37-litres, which is good enough to accommodate two helmets.
