      Honda has been a pioneer in bringing gear less scooters to the Indian market. The introduction of Activa by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India in the year 2000 proved to be highly successful and brought back the trend of scooters in the nation. Honda Activa, equipped with a 109 cc, 4 stroke, air cooled single cylinder engine, has worked wonders for this firm. According to reports, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India is slated to launch a new motorbike every quarter for the next three years.       The Activa I is yet another women oriented automatic scooter that has an affordable rate and better mileage. The latest upgraded version of the company's best selling two wheeler is being considered as the cheapest vehicle in this segment. This 110 cc engine equipped scooter gives a fuel efficiency of around 60 kmpl is expected to be Rs. 5000 cheaper than its parent model, Activa. Designed stylishly this automatic scooter weighs around 103 kg. It boasts of features like tubeless tyres, viscous air filter, maximum storage space of 18 litres, combi brake system and maintenance-free battery.

      After the grand success of their previous models, Honda has plans to launch another automatic scooter and if reports are to be believed, it's going to arrive sometime in the month of September. The Ganesh Utsav has marked the commencement of the festive season and there's no doubt that Honda has full intentions of cashing on it the market like rest of the auto makers. The launch of this new variant is going to take the number of scooters by this firm in the domestic market to five. According to sources, Honda Activa I and Dio are preferred by the youth while family people choose the regular Activa. The Aviator has been specifically designed for taller people so it is tough to comment in which category this new addition would fit in.

      The new scooter in this segment is expected to have an auto-transmission power train of over 100 cc, which would deliver approximately 10 bhp of power. It is expected to have the K24A engine with Honda Efficiency Technology (HET), delivering a fuel efficiency of 60 kmpl. As per speculations, this model is going to be more powerful than Activa I and would give competition to Mahindra Rodeo, Suzuki Access, Piaggio Vespa 125. A few additional features that will be found are telescopic front forks, digital instrument console, better ergonomics and front disc brake. Industry experts feel that the performance of this vehicle is going to be more powerful, energetic and smoother. This new variant is going to help this company establish itself in a more profound manner. This latest addition in the catalogue of Honda is expected to make its début in September and would be priced over Rs. 60,000.

      Honda India is concentrating on motorcycle and scooter section as in adverse market conditions, the two wheeler segment has somehow managed to stay afloat. The latest two wheeler by this firm, Activa I, has the lowest price and the new model, expected to launch soon, would also come loaded with features. The way Honda has been bringing in new models and taking its plans of launching new variants at regular intervals into consideration, experts feel it could take over the position Chetak by Baja Auto enjoyed some years back.
