The Honda City petrol will soon be offered with a six-speed manual transmission. The Japanese carmaker is offering the new six-speed unit with the BR-V and the dealers have confirmed that it will be available with the City sedan soon.
The City uses the 1.5-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine producing 117bhp and 145Nm of torque. Currently it uses the five-speed transmission powering the front wheels and the update was expected since the BR-V gets a better transmission with the same powertrain.
There won’t be any changes to the power figures with the new transmission, but ideally the ARAI fuel efficiency of the petrol manual City should go up marginally. We are expecting Honda to officially launch the six-speed City MT by end of this month with a slight price hike. The updated City will continue to compete with the Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
