Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), a joint venture of the Japanese auto giant Honda Motors which caters the manufacturing in the Indonesian market, is planning to develop a new Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) based on its popular small hatchback in the Indonesian market. As per the industry reports, the new Honda MPV will be borrowing looks from Concept S model which was showcased at the Beijing Motor Show.
The production version of the Concept S model will be launched in the Chinese market next year, which will be followed by its launch in the global market. However, the Brio based MPV model will be substantially smaller as compared to Concept S model.
In India, the Brio based MPV will be launched in the Indian market by year 2014, where it will be competing with the likes of Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innovaand Mahindra Xylomodel. The MPV is expected to be powered by 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol. On the other hand, the much in demand diesel version is expected to come powered by Honda’s all new 1.4or 1.6 litres, which is currently under development.
