Honda has doubled the production capacity of its Tapukara manufacturing unit in Rajasthan. The company has been facing production issue, which leads to an increase in waiting period of some of its products. Now, the production unit can produce up to 10,000 units from previous 5,000 units to reduce waiting period of its best selling mid-sized sedan- the City.

Honda launched the new generation Honda City in January this year. The vehicle has received an overwhelming response from buyers and becomes the top-selling product in its league. However, the new City lost its number one position with the recently launched new Maruti Ciaz. The new City is currently facing around a waiting period of up to three months. In order to reduce the waiting period, the company has started one more shift at its Tapukara plant, where it develops City and Amaze.

Back in August, Honda has temporarily suspended the production of City to shift its production to the Rajasthan based facility from Greater Noida unit to Tapukara. The Greater Noida facility also has a production capacity of 10,000 units per month on a double shift basis. This unit currently develops Brio, Amaze, Mobilio and the CR-V SUV.
