Honda Siel Cars India Limited, the Indian unit of leading Japanese car maker Honda, on Friday reported a dip of 24.81% in its sales in the month of June 2011. The company managed to sell a total of 3,455 units during this month as compared to 4,595 units sold in the same month last year.

However, the sales of company’s flagship car model – Honda City – stood at 2,802 units, registering a jump of 53 percent over the units sold in the same month previous year. Besides City, the company managed to sell 361 units of premium hatchback Jazz, 175 units of premium sedan Civic, 103 units of luxury sedan Accord and 14 units of its SUV (sports utility vehicle) CR-V.

Speaking on the company’s performance during the month, HSCI Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said, "We have been working with production constraints for the last few months. However, the recovery efforts are going on to increasingly meet the demand which has helped us improve our sales in June 2011."

It is to be mentioned here that the car maker had to cut-down its production as the massive earthquake and Tsunami blocked the supply of parts from the company’s units in Japan.
