Japanese auto giant Honda Siel Cars India on 24th February 2012 announced that its marketing director Seki Inaba and current president and CEO Takashi Nagai will be transferred from India. The year 2011 was bumpy for Honda Siel Cars India due to lower market share and less sales revenue.  According to a Honda spokesperson “Honda Motor Company, as part of its annual process globally re-aligns changes in leadership across regions”. “The changes in management for India are part of the same process. The new management will join from April 1.”

Takashi Nagai was appointed as the President and CEO of Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) on April 2010. He took the charge last year replacing Masahiro Takedagawa.  Takashi Nagai is the fourth chief executive officer and president of the company. As per the company, H Kanayama, who is handling the Taiwan operations, will replace Takashi Nagai. However, Nagai will be appointed as the representative director and president of Honda Logistics.

Even though, the company mentions the transfer as a part of its regular policy, it is supposed that the action is to reform its position in the country. In the premium car market of India, the company has to loose its supremacy. Honda has suffered in the past years due to production constraint and lack of diesel technology.
