Honda Siel Cars India Pvt. Ltd., the Indian division of Japanese auto giant Honda, has announced to recall 72,115 units of its popular mid-size sedan Honda City in the Indian market due to faulty power window switches. This the second time in last two year that company has recalled its vehicles in the Indian auto market. Honda City is currently the flagship Honda portfolio model in the Indian market with sales crossing 50,000 units per annum in the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, the company said, "Honda Siel Cars India Ltd is carrying out the part replacement as part of a global exercise by Honda Motor Company to ensure stringent quality standards for its products."

The recall will be affecting the Honda City cars carrying model year 2005 to 2007. Earlier, the company had recalled 8,532 City models in January 2010, carrying manufacturing year 2007.

However, the Indian recall is not a part of recall announced by Honda in the global market, in which the company had recalled 6,46,000 City and Jazz models due to the faulty power window switches.

Besides City sedan, Honda Siel currently sells a number of cars in the Indian market including hatchback Jazz, Sedan Honda Civic and Accord and luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) Honda CR-V. The company is further all set to mark its debut in the compact hatchback segment with the launch of its Brio hatchback by this month end.
