Japanese auto giant Honda has unveiled its renewed European car range at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, including the Civic hatchback prototype which is being unveiled for the first time. Besides this, the brand is also showcasing the NSX sports car, the Clarity Fuel Cell vehicle, the CR-V Black Edition and the Jazz Keenlight Concept.
Coming back to the Civic, the prototype previews the exterior design of a new hatchback model which will arrive in Europe in early 2017. The car will be produced at Honda’s UK facility and will be exported to global markets, including the US. Its 30mm wider, 20mm lower and 130mm longer than the current generation model and features larger wheels, a longer wheelbase and short overhangs for improved appearance. Underneath, the Civic hatch will feature a range of three powertrain options: 1-litre and 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo petrol engines and a revised 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel unit.
Alongside the new Civic hatch, there’s also the European-spec NSX in Geneva. The car comes with an all-new mid-mounted V6 engine with twin turbochargers mated to a 9-speed DCT gearbox. Honda is also showing off a new design concept based on the Jazz. Labelled Keenlight concept, the show car seeks to highlight the potential for customising the Jazz using special decals and a unique colour named Keenlight.
