Speaking more on the occasion, Steven Center, Vice President of American Honda's Environmental Business Development Office said, “In researching existing green building programs, we found there was nothing ideally suited to the unique operational needs of auto dealerships, especially existing dealer facilities. We decided to create a road-map that any dealer can use to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and cut overhead costs. The bottom line is that green business is good business, and this guide gives dealers the tools they need to become more efficient and profitable at the same time.” The 93-page guide shows every technique and features about 171 available points across five categories namely - energy performance (130 points), sustainable best practices (8 points), site attributes (12 points), water efficiency (17 points), and waste reduction (4 points).

About 280 dealers have reportedly joined the cause. Moreover more than 1,300 dealers from Honda and Acura have consumed about 780 gigawatt hours of electricity and shall generate about 593,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The move is not just beneficial for the company, but indeed it shall also help in making world a better place to live.
