      Honda opens new facility in Tapukara

      Honda inaugurated its new facility in Tapukara located in Rajasthan, Chief Guest, Ms. Vasundhara Raje, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Government of Rajasthan and Guest of Honour, Mr. Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to India were also present at the event. Honda India also has a manufacturing facility in Noida, however the rising demand for Honda cars in India lead to construction of a new plant. Honda’s new sedan, Amaze will be the first model from the fleet of Honda’s cars in India to be rolled out from the new plant located in Tapukara. Company’s flagship sedan City and Amaze registered excellent monthly sales leading to unparalleled growth in 2013.

      The sudden surge in demand for City and Amaze resulted in prolonged deliveries, but with the Tapukara plant being functional Honda will be able to minimize the waiting period for its cars. The plant has a capacity of manufacturing 1,20,000 annually in two shifts, however, it will be producing 60,000 units only initially. Tapukara plant is built in a vast area of 450 acres, a huge investment of Rs 3526 crore has been made on this new plant. Several functions will be carried in this plant like, forging, press shop, powertrain shop, weld shop, paint shop, plastic moulding, engine assembly, frame assembly and engine testing facility. Employment opportunities have also aroused, the company would need around 3200 employees for the new facility.

      Honda is known for offering class-apart cars embedded with advanced features which the companyyearnsto proffer in its future products too. Commenting on the occasion Mr Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, Managing Officer, Honda Motor Co. Ltd, Japan and representative of Development, Purchasing in Asia & Oceania region said, “India is an important market for Honda and with the beginning of car production at Tapukara plant, we are advancing our commitment to expand Honda's business in India. We are thankful to the Government of Rajasthan for extending all the support to participate in the industrialization of the state. Though our products and operations, our goal is to make Honda a company that society wants to exist.”

      Mr Hironori Kanayama, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The beginning of car production from our 2nd plant is a significant milestone for HCIL. With overwhelming response to our current models like Honda Amaze & all-new City and promising future line-up, we are ready to cater to the strong demand for Honda cars from our customers in India.”
