      Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India attains 10 million sales mark, lines up expansion plans

      Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), the Indian subsidiary of the Japan based auto group, has paced by leaps and bounds in the country’s two-wheeler market to attain a sales milestone of 10 million units, which has further instilled the company to expand its production and sales operations along with India oriented vehicles for the nation.

      Mr. Keita Muramatsu, the President and CEO, HMSI, commented on this achievement, saying, "This milestone re-affirms the deep trust of customers for brand Honda. Going ahead, Honda will intensify its efforts to rapidly expand production, network and continue to achieve many more million smiles introducing advanced Indian centric products across all motorcycle & scooter segments to realize our Dreams for India."

      At present, the company has established its production operations at is two facilities located at Manesar in Haryana and Tapukara in Rajasthan while its third unit is under construction and is strategically situated at Narsapuram in Karnataka. With the surging up sales and demand, the company is determined to reach the annual production capacity of 4 million vehicles by the year 2013.

      Along with production expansion plans, HMSI is aiming to expand its distribution network in India to cater the rising demand in the versatile two-wheeler market. Plans have been streamlined to raise the number of outlets by 500 taking the tally to 2000 outlets in the current fiscal year.
