Honda Motor Company has officially announced a recall of around 489,000 CR-Vs worldwide after finding some faults in the power window switch at the driver’s side. Reportedly, there is a chance of entering rain water into the vehicle, which can lead to switch overheating and will ultimately catch fire. The Japanese auto maker’s spokesperson said that the company will recall around 220,000 models of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Europe, while some 268,000 vehicles will be called in United States. A less chance of glitches is expected in Africa and thus, less than 100 models will be recalled from there.

It must be noted that all the recalled vehicles are manufactured between the years 2002 and 2006. The move was taken after the company registered five switch fire cases; however no injuries and crashes were reported owing to the issue. Honda, which happens to be the Japan’s third largest auto company, did not declare an estimated cost of the recall. However, the impact of recall is hardly seen in the Indian auto industry as no official decelerations are made in particular.

Apart from this, the auto company earlier announced a recall of over 600,000 Accord sedans in the North American region to fix a leak problem in the steering wheel, which could cause to fire in the engine.
