Living up to its promise, Honda Motors has launched Indian made Mobilio MPV in South Africa this month. Prior to South Africa, Honda launched Mobilio in Nepal last month at the NADA Auto Show. In South Africa Mobilio has been rolled out in three variants in two manual and one automatic version viz; Trend, Comfort and Comfort CVT. For the South African market, manual variants of Mobilio are priced between 179,990 Rand to 198,990 Rand equivalent to Rs 9.95 lakh to Rs 11.01 lakh. Officials at Honda have confirmed that Mobilio CVT will not be inducted in domestic marker anytime soon. The MPV will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing unit located in Greater Noida from where it will be shipped to South Africa.
Powering the MPV is a 1.5 litre, four cylinder, i-VTEC petrol engine that belts out maximum power output of 119 PS along with top torque of 145 Nm. As mentioned earlier the MPV is available in a five-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. On the performance fornt, manual variant propels from 0 to 100 kmph within 10.8 seconds and automatic variants sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 11.3 seconds. Claimed fuel economy delivered by manual variant stands at 16.39 kmpl on the other hand automatic variant is vouched to return 16.66 kmpl.
Features offered as standard fare across variants are Anti-Lock Braking system with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and dual front airbags. All Black interior scheme is also being offered as standard across range. Comfort variant gets relatively more features as against Trend variant, the former has been equipped with a body-coloured door handles and wing mirrors, driver seat height adjuster, music system with four speakers, rear AC and a remote controlled central locking system.
