Honda Jazz has been a brand that has been associated with style factor in the past. hatchback has been a trend setter in the Indian hatchback segment. Though Jazz was a good car, the hatchback had to meet its end owing to factors like over pricing and lower fuel efficiency as compared to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Hyundai i10 and others that came loaded with interesting features at an attractive price tag. The fresh look of Jazz from Honda was unveiled at the February held Auto Expo event in Delhi. This time around the car has been re-launched minus all the flaws that withheld its sales back then. True lovers of this stylish hatchback may have to wait a little longer as the Japanese car-maker had announced its plan to launch the car sometime in the last quarter of 2015. The news was released during inauguration of new car production plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
The new engine in Jazz hatchback shall follow the Amaze sedan line, with two fuel options – 1.2 litre petrol and the new 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine shall generate about 86PS of power with 109Nm of torque, whereas its diesel counterpart generates about 100PS of power with 200Nm of torque. As per sources 90PS tuning mark for the diesel engine may work wonders for the Japanese car-maker, this is mainly done to extract better fuel efficiency from the engine and stand at a competitive platform with its competitors. It is expected that the car may retain the five-speed auto box found in petrol versions of Amaze and Brio models.
On the exterior, Jazz shall receive a new grill design and look bolder than before. Cosmetic upgrades have been carried to bumpers and sides of this car to make it look sportier than before. The tail lights now feature a cluster pattern that makes it visually appealing. The attractive wedge shaped D-pillar has been retained from the yesteryear Jazz version. The new Jazz is expected to compete against the likes of Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra and Volkswagen Polo. The Japanese car-maker has not revealed its plans on the pricing aspect for now but it is anticipated that the hatchback shall come with a lower price tag time and shall deliver better fuel efficiency figures.
