Honda has launched the 2016 Accord facelift in Malaysia, and prices for this saloon start from RM 145000 (Rs 23.77 lakh). This iteration of the Accord is available in three variants called 2.0 VTi, 2.0 VTi-L and the 2.4 VTi-L, and is cheaper than the earlier model by RM 5000 (Rs 82,000).

Honda added that the new Accord is mechanically unchanged, and the external changes include a bold new fascia design that features a long chrome bar running between the head lamps. At the rear, new LED tail lights can be seen along with a wider chrome number plate garnish.

The cabin now uses wood and piano black or silver finishes (2.0 VTi-L and 2.4 VTi-L), and also features an infotainment system which has functions like Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, HDMI and WiFi hotspot. That said, the Malaysian Accord will not get the remote engine start which features on the Thai-spec model. Honda’s facelifted Accord will continue to be offered with the same engines. So the 2.4-litre Earth Dreams engine that produces 175bhp and 225Nm, and the 2.0 litre 155bhp i-VTEC engine with 190Nm of torque will continue to do duty with a five-speed automatic gearbox.

Safety features that find their way into the facelifted Accord are ABS with EBD and brake assist, six airbags, hill start assist, and vehicle stability assist. Both the 2.4 VTi-L and 2.0 VTi-L variants will also be equipped with Honda’s acclaimed LaneWatch blind-spot camera.

Honda showcased the Accord at the Auto Expo in Delhi earlier this year, and plans to launch Accord Hybrid in October to take on the likes of the upcoming Volkswagen Passat GTE and Toyota’s Camry Hybrid.
