Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), has been a strong brand in the Indian two wheeler segment with a strong line up in motorcycle and automatic scooter segment in the country. It is anticipated that the India's second largest two wheeler manufacturer shall usher in a new model in Dream 110 cc bike segment along with the powerful 160cc unnamed motorbike that is intended to appeal to the youth in the country.
At a recently held event, Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “HMSI has set the challenging target of 45 lakh unit sales in FY15. I am confident that propelled by three new launches including the Activa 125 and aggressive network expansion, Honda will meet the expectations” The Japanese bike-maker aims at adding about 1,000 dealership and with the launch of these two new bikes the company expects a jump of about 26% with 45 lakh units.
YS Guleria, VP for Sales and Marketing, HMSI, further added, “Honda will add 1000 new touch-points to its network. This translates to adding three outlets each day. With this, Honda will double its network in just two years from 1,950 outlets in FY13 to 3,800 outlets by end of FY15.” As per reports, HMSI has also invested in about Rs. 1,000 crore for a fourth plant in Gujarat.
Honda has recently launched its robust scooter, Activa 125 in two variants- the STD variant and DLX variant. The STD variant is priced at Rs 52,447 and the DLX variant is available for Rs 58,156 (ex-Showroom Delhi). The scooter is stated to be powered by 124.9cc engine that generates about 8.6 bhp of power with 10.12 Nm of torque. The scooter shall get a full metal body with a sharp design and the instrument cluster gets an all digital panel. The well designed structure ensures a comfortable ride over long distances.
