Honda has showcased an appealing Urban SUV Concept at the ongoing 2013 Detroit Auto Show, which has gathered immense appreciation from the audience. The model happens to be a subcompact crossover, which exhibits an all-new designing language. Industry experts believe that the commercial version of this model is anticipated to enter the Indian market in the near future.

At the showcasing ceremony, Honda said that the model will carve new values in the fast developing compact SUV segment. The new concept has a length of just 169.3 inches, which makes it around 10 inches shorter than the current model of Honda CR-V. The rear door handles of the model are hidden, which provides it a two-seater design, while featuring the functions of a four-door model.

The launch of this model will add to the fleet of Honda’s Global Compact Series of vehicles, which includes Honda City and Honda Fit. Reportedly, the model is initially expected to mark the presence in US, somewhere in 2014. The new subcompact SUV is anticipated to emphasis on the fuel efficiency with the help of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology. The new concept is also anticipated to feature the Magic Seat design, which is provided in the Honda Fit, allowing passengers to comfortably sit in the model.

The new generation model is anticipated to come with advance telematics, as advanced connectivity features are a must for Honda’s target audience. However, the auto maker has not revealed any information about its telematics technology as of now. It is being reported that the auto maker is planning to manufacture the new model at Celaya, Mexico plant from 2014. The technical specifications of the model were not revealed at the auto show.

Industry experts believe that at the time of its India launch, the model will also feature a diesel engine, along with a petrol motor. It seems that the philosophy that Honda is not looking on any serious prospects for introducing compact SUVs in India will come to an end with the launch of this model.
