Introduction of the i-DTEC technology, used in Amaze sedan, has helped the Japanese firm to attract mass buyers. City sedan, till now, has been Honda's flagship model in India as it has managed to sustain itself for a long time. For a model to register good sales figures for such an extended location is commendable. While customers have appreciated this sedan for its stylish design and lavish interiors, critics have lauded its marvellous engine performance and fuel economy. Due to the success of Amaze, Honda, reportedly, has decided to launch a diesel version of City as well.

      Since reports of Honda City diesel launch have surfaced, analysts and experts have started discussing its prospects. Experts believe that Honda City has the capability of becoming a game changer in India. Considering the success petrol version has achieved till now, the kind of response City diesel could get is immense. One of the biggest reasons why this sedan is likely to achieve great success is because of high fuel economy. Sources claim that Honda is planning to make tweaks in the diesel engine to ensure an efficient performance. Some experts have already started comparing hype levels of this sedan to that of Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

      Ford EcoSport has been one of the most anticipated models of the Indian market recently. Despite poor market condition and some controversies, this compact SUV caught the attention of buyers in India. And to say the least, it has lived up to the hype, single-handedly keeping Ford afloat in market. Although it is quite a possibility, repeating the hype levels of Ford EcoSport would be tough for Honda City diesel. As of now, there has been no confirmation from the Japanese firm regarding the launch of this model, speculations suggest that it could happen in the first half of 2014.
