      Honda cars India report 123% rise in sales for February

      Honda cars in India has always found a sweet spot across segments in the car buying community. The Japanese car-maker boasts of 165 authorized dealership facilities across 105 cities in the country. The "3S Facility" format, has been developed to offer complete range of Sales, Service and Spares services to its valued customers. The recent cut in Excise duty sometime in February has done much good to international car-maker. As per recent released sales chart, Honda reported a growth of 123% with 14,543 units being sold, as against 6,510 units being sold in the same month last year.

      Expressing delight on the company’s performance Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President for Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “We are happy to see the huge demand for the all new Honda City which has gained the leadership position in its segment from the first month itself. The deliveries for the Petrol City have begun from February and with both our car manufacturing plants in operation, it will aid in quick delivery of cars and cater to the strong demand from our customers. The excise duty reduction announced during Interim budget last month has made all our cars even more attractively priced for our customers.”

      The automotive market in the country reported an all time low in terms of sales numbers owing to steep Excise duty in the country. Finance minister, P Chidambaram, said, “To give relief to the automobile industry, which is registering unprecedented negative growth, I propose to reduce excise duty.” As per the new excise duty regulations, Small cars, Two wheelers and Commercial vehicles has come down to 8% from previous 12% that was payable till date. SUV segment is liable for 24% excise duty as against 30% that was payable earlier. Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive division, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "The auto industry has received a much-needed boost in terms of an excise duty reduction and this has resulted in higher inquiries through the last week. The recently concluded Auto Expo has been a success, and this will only help generate demand. We are hopeful these positive initiatives will be the beginning of a gradual upswing for the auto industry, as we move into the next financial year."
