Honda Brio, the recently launched small car in the Indian auto market, is receiving a good response from the buyers of this segment in the Indian auto market. In first four days of its launch, the company has managed to sell 171 units of the Brio in the country. Considering the strong competition in the compact hatchback segment from the likes of Maruti Swift and Ford Figo, initial response received by the Brio model can be considered substantial.

The Honda Brio has been shelved in the price segment of Rs 3.95 lakh to Rs 5.10 lakh, where it is fighting for space with a number of other cars available in the segment including the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra, Chevrolet Beat and Toyota Etios Liva.

The company is expecting the Brio to become its best selling portfolio model in the Indian auto market soon, replacing the current highest selling Honda City sedan. Honda City currently accounts for over 80 percent of company’s total sales in the country. The company is expecting Indian market to be the top buyer of Brio, even ahead of Chinese market.

However, the car is available in only petrol version, which can prove a major drawback for Brio series of cars considering the rapidly increasing demand for diesel variants in the mass segment.
