The much awaited Honda BR-V is all set for its official launch on May 5 in India. The compact SUV is expected to help the Japanese automaker, Honda to have a good foothold in this popular segment. The BR-V will indeed be the country’s first seven-seater compact SUV.
Under the hood, the Honda BR-V will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will get a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine which generates 117bhp power and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which will generate 99bhp power and 200Nm of torque. Along with a six-speed manual transmission, the compact SUV will also feature an optional CVT.
In terms of dimensions, the BR-V measures 4,455mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,650mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,660mm. The front is adorned with a large chrome-slat grille and black projector headlamps. The sides resemble the Mobilio except for the plastic cladding on wheel arches and bigger ground clearance. The rear looks new with long tail lamps and a neat finish.
Inside the cabin you can expect to see steering mounted controls, premium seats and upholstery, and automatic climate control. Honda boasts about offering class-leading cabin space with more headroom and knee room for occupants. In terms of safety, the BR-V will come loaded with dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).
Though the official pricing aspect is not out yet, we anticipate it to be priced between Rs 9 – Rs 15 lakh. Post launch, the BR-V will compete with the popular sellers like recently launched Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
