      Honda BR-V variants explained

      The much awaited Honda BR-V has finally been launched in India at Rs 8.75 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). Offered in petrol and diesel engine options, the compact SUV has been offered in four variants. The Honda BR-V gets a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine which generates about 118bhp power and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which will generate 100bhp power and 200Nm of torque. The seven-seat vehicle comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission, while optional CVT is available only in petrol guise.

      The Honda BR-V has been launched in four variants – E, S, V and VX. Here are a list of features in every variant:

      E: The BR-V E variant priced at Rs 8.75 lakh for petrol and Rs 9.90 lakh for diesel, comes with chrome front grille, body coloured door handles and ORVMs, projector headlamps, LED tail light guide, eco lamps, power windows, digital AC controls, roof rails and adjustable headrest for all seat rows. For additional comfort, the E variant gets tilt steering and 50:50 split third row of seats with reclining function and 60:40 split second row of seats with reclining function. For safety, it gets dual front airbags, while ABS with EBD is available only in diesel.

      S: The BR-V S variant priced at Rs 9.90 lakh petrol and Rs 10.99 lakh diesel, carries forth all the features from the E variant while additionally offering sliding second row seats, 2-DIN audio player with Bluetooth and USB, steering-mounted audio controls and rear wiper, washer and defogger. For added convenience, the S variant also offers adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control and rear AC vents. This variant also gets better fabric upholstery and electronically folding ORVMs. The S variant also gets a full wheel cover. ABS is standard in petrol versions as well diesel starting with this trim.

      V: Moving a step ahead, the BR-V V variant priced at Rs 10.90 lakh petrol MT, Rs 11.99 lakh petrol CVT and Rs 11.85 lakh diesel, comes loaded with additional features like electronically folding ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, push button start with keyless entry, front fog lamps and second row centre armrest. The V variants also gets a 3D speedometer with multi-information display, security alarm and front and rear mudguards. For additional protection, the V variant also gets impact sensing auto door unlock system and speed sensitive automatic door locks. The V variant is offered in manual transmission, with optional CVT with paddle shift only in petrol guise.

      VX: The top-of-the-line BR-V VX priced at Rs 11.84 lakh petrol and Rs 12.90 lakh diesel, comes with LED positioning lamps, chrome side protector, head absorbing windshield, leather wrapped steering wheel, armrest, gear knob and seats. The VX variant also gets driver power auto up function.

      The Honda BR-V comes loaded with decent amount of features in its segment. For those keen on petrol, can opt for the S variant that comes standard front airbags with ABS and EBD, along with a range of features. While those looking for a budget friendly diesel, they can opt for the base E variant that offers front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard, though we think the S offers better value for money.
