Honda BR-V's entry might change dismal sales figures

Honda's sales figures for April 2016 have dipped by 17 per cent as compared to April 2015. The BR-V's impending launch should create a huge demand owing to the hike in sales numbers that are currently seeing a constant decline.

Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales for Hondabelieves that there has been an impact on the consumer sentiment due to the ongoing ban on diesel cars. The quick shift in the consumer preferences from diesel to petrol cars has led to a mismatch in the demand and availability of variants. This is the reason why Honda sold 10,486 cars last month, when they had sold 12,636 cars in the corresponding period last year. Export numbers also slipped from 853 units to 496 units last month.

It all now depends on the launch of the Honda BR-V, which is expected to boost the sales numbers for the manufacturer. It, however, remains to be seen that for how long the new compact SUV can sustain the much-required hike in Honda's sales performance. This brings us to its pricing, which if very competitive, should bring about a huge demand of the car in the growing compact SUV segment. Stay tuned as May 5 is when we will get to know the variant-wise prices.
