The upcoming Honda BR-V can now be pre-booked at a refundable amount of Rs 21,000. The carmaker will launch the car on May 5, when the variant-wise prices of the car will be announced officially.

The production version of the BR-V was exhibited at the 2016 Auto Expo. It is already available in the Indonesian market now as it was first displayed as a concept at the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show. The BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and is based on the Honda Mobilio or stretched Brio platform. Apart from the sporty looks, the cabin comes packed with features similar to the other Honda siblings.

The Honda BR-V for the Indian market will be offered in both diesel and petrol variants. The petrol trim comes powered by Honda's renowned 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, i-VTEC petrol engine with the availability of a six-speed manual and a CVT transmission. On the other hand, the oil-burner gets the tried and tested 1.5-litre diesel mill from the Mobilio. This unit comes mated to the six-speed manual gearbox only.

Even if the Honda BR-V is based on the Mobilio, the new crossover has a better quotient of luxury and premium feel. Plus it will offer a seven-seat arrangement and three-row configuration, which none of its competitors offer in the same price bracket. We can expect the BR-V to undercut the Hyundai Creta in terms of pricing and also compete with the Renault Duster.
