The sales figures for the month of February, 2015, were released by Honda Cars India and their compact sedan Amaze was the highest selling model for the Japanese firm. Not only was Amaze Honda’s bestselling car, its prolific sales enabled Honda to register an increase of 16 per cent as compared to the figure clocked in February, 2014. The total sales for Honda Amaze in the month of February amounted to 7163 units. Mobilio Multi-purpose Vehicle, Brio, City and CR-V clocked figures of 1697, 1397, 140 and 6505.
Honda Amaze, ever since its introduction a couple of years back, has turned around the Japanese automaker’s reputation in the Indian market. Quite incredibly, Honda has managed to sell 183533 units of Amaze till date while its other models have seen a sharp decline, including and especially the Brio hatchback. As compared to the 2013-14 fiscal year, when Brio sold 18044 units, it managed only 13344 in 2014-15.
The launch of Honda Amaze has triggered a trend of compact sedans doing well in India. In fact Amaze, Honda’s first diesel car, changed the entire game for the Japanese firm. From being a brand for the elite class, Honda is now a common man’s brand. Recently, Honda launched a new trim level for the Amaze, called the VX (O), which features a new infotainment system and a mildly redone instrument cluster.
