      Honda Amaze to take on Swift DZire; Indian launch expected in April 2013

      Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL), a completely owned subsidiary of the Japanese multinational auto major Honda Motor Co., is working round-the-clock towards bringing its new Amaze compact sedan in the domestic market by the end of April 2013 The Honda Amaze is actually an extended version of the company's Brio premium hatchback, much on the similar lines of Maruti Suzuki's Swift and Swift DZire models. The soon-to-be launched Amaze entry level sedan is generating immense amount of hype and speculations regarding its engine type, since it is coming with the company's new i-DTEC diesel engine.

      Expressing his views on the upcoming Amaze diesel model and Indian launch, Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India, has been quoted as saying, “The newly developed iDTEC engine belongs to the new generation powertrain technology Earth Dreams Technology that realises both excellent driving performance and fuel economy at a high level. Amaze will be the first car from Honda to sport this new diesel engine. We feel that the contemporary style of Amaze and all the core values of Honda (durability, quality and reliability) will appeal to the growing base of entry level sedan customers.”

      Speaking of under-the-hood specifications of the soon-to-be launched Honda Amaze, the entry level model will be offered to domestic car enthusiasts in both petrol and diesel powered options. The Amaze petrol trim is expected to come fitted with a 1.2 litre motor that produces a peak power output of 88 bhp, along with a maximum torque delivery close to 110 Nm. Further, the diesel model will be powered with the much awaited 1.5 litre turbocharged i-DTEC power-mill, laced with Earth Dreams Technology that could pump out a maximum power around 90 bhp.

      Upon its arrival on Indian turf, the Honda Amaze entry level compact sedan is expected to take the entire competition in market by storm. The Japanese auto major will be pitching its Amaze model in an intense face off against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Chevrolet Sail, Ford Classic, Tata Indigo eCS and the Mahindra Verito, amid others. Come April this year and Indian audience will have another promising option in the entry level sedan segment in the form of Honda Amaze, which is expected to come within a price band of Rs. 5.5 to 7.5 lakhs.
